About GP Rating Program
GP Rating (General Purpose Rating) is a pre-sea training program approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India. It includes 6 months of academic training followed by 6 months of sea training on merchant ships. This is the fastest and most affordable way to start your career in the maritime industry after 10th standard.
Upon successful completion, you become a certified Rating and can work on cargo ships, tankers, container vessels, and passenger ships worldwide. You'll be trained to work in both Deck and Engine departments, making you a versatile professional.
Deck Department
Navigation, cargo handling, bridge operations, watchkeeping, and safety procedures.
Engine Department
Mechanical maintenance, engine room operations, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
10th pass (40% aggregate marks) from recognized board
Age Limit
17.5 to 25 years at the time of admission
Medical Standards
Medically fit as per DG Shipping guidelines (eye sight 6/12, no color blindness)
Physical Fitness
Swimming test mandatory (basic proficiency)
